Dr. Stacy Scott-McKinney
Dr. Stacy Scott-McKinney, MD, was born and raised in Queens, New York. She is the youngest of David and Yvonne Scott’s three children. Her love of the sciences and desire to become a physician stemmed from witnessing at a very early age the harrowing and ravaging effects of Parkinson’s Disease on her grandmother and the tragedy of the premature loss of her other beloved grandparents to cancer, heart disease, and poorly controlled hypertension. Stacy is also an art enthusiast. Determined to find a way to marry both her passions, she majored in Art History at Princeton University while also pursuing a pre-med education. She went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed her pediatric training at Children’s National Hospital. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics. She has been a practicing pediatrician for over thirty years in the DMV. She has held a variety of positions during her career, including medical director of a school-based health clinic in Prince George’s County and medical director of the first urgent care center dedicated exclusively to pediatrics in Montgomery County. She has been an employee and, at times, an employer, and for the past fifteen years, she has worked in a private practice in a suburb of Maryland. She has been a featured contributor in The Prince George’s Woman, an educational and lifestyle magazine. While her days are very long and her professional pursuits have been rewarding, she is most gratified by spending time with her family and dear friends and strengthening her spiritual relationship with God. She is blessed with two sons who have grown up too quickly but have been the source of many wonderful memories. She is renewed by quiet time and reading, especially the Bible. She enjoys traveling far or one day excursions, playing tennis, walking, watching track meets, visiting museums, collecting black dolls and black memorabilia, listening to all genres of music, and tending to her plants. As God is her light and salvation, she finds peace and joy in these relationships and experiences.
